Briefing Note on Points 4 Life in manchester
Theme: Points 4 Life
Points 4 Life is an incentive scheme designed to encourage people to eat more healthily, and to be more physically active. It is currently under development, led by PruHealth on behalf of Manchester Joint Health Unit. £3.5m of funding form the Department of Health has been secured, and will run over three years, beginning with the rollout in Manchester which is anticipated for March 2010. The scheme also has a cash investment from Manchester
City Council and the NHS, and it is anticipated that their will be a significant financial buy-in from participating supermarkets.
The target is to engage 120,000 people in Manchester in healthy eating and physical activity, through the circulation of points with a retail value of approximately £1.5m per annum (approx £10-15 worth of points / participant / year). It is hoped that the model will be rolled out in other towns and cities in the UK, following successful implementation in Manchester.
