2012 EU Year on Active Ageing & solidarity Between Generations
The ‘Active Ageing and Solidarity between Generations’ was recently confirmed as the name chosen by the European Parliament and the European Council for the 2012 European year (EY2012).
The EY2012 aims to promote active ageing both at work, by giving elderly workers additional options to keep working, and within society, by combating social exclusion via volunteering and ageing in good health and with independence. It is part of the tenth anniversary of the United Nations’ action plan on ageing and is due to cover a series of different initiatives on this theme.
EuroHealthNet is collaborating in a coalition with other European organisations to promote the 2012 EU Year on Active Ageing and Solidarity Between Generations. In preparation and to raise awareness for the forthcoming year, the coalition has produced a publication highlighting the objectives of the year and includes details on how to get involved.
