Description

During his last visit to Burnley in 2008 the Prince pledged the support of a number of his key charities to work alongside Burnley Borough Council, local businesses and voluntary organisations to support the regeneration of Burnley.

To assess it’s progress His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales came to visit Burnley on Friday 5th February.

With this in mind the Head teacher and the Chair of Governors from Cherryfold Primary School invited Gerard Vinton and Anita Saunders to represent the BUFFALO Project, part of the Target: Wellbeing Burnley programme, and speak to the Prince about the success we had while delivering BUFFALO sessions within the school last year.

We discussed how we aim to help the school children, staff and parents learn about how to incorporate healthy food and physical activity into their everyday lives in fun practical ways.

The Prince was most interested in how much the children enjoyed the cooking and tasting of new foods, and how some children had tried new sports /activities.

We talked about how the children enjoyed gardening and growing their own fruit and veg and how Cherryfold have started their own allotment/garden within the school.
