Description

A dance event to celebrate the work and achievement of dancers from the Shimmy Shimmy Shake Shake project took place on the evening of 8th December in the Kirkby Suite, Knowlsey.

Over 120 children and young people joined 100 adult dancers from all areas of Knowsley, to put on a fantastic showcase of talent.

Children as young as four entertained a packed audience of 500 Knowsley residents, while other performances by young people, adults with additional needs, and older people provided a real mix of styles.

One Halewood dance troupe, Step Up, really wowed the audience with a ‘street’ style routine by the young women that was out of this world, and they even choreographed moves down, into and around the seated audience to rousing applause.

Evelyn Primary School inspired the audience with their contemporary routine by 11 young girls and one boy, while the adult Bollywood Indian dancers, provided a unique firsthand experience of their beautiful dance moves.

Men from the Cottage Theatre group with additional needs really stole the show with their cheeky number Blues Brothers’ number, while the adult ladies from this group performed a roaring 20’s dance.

Contemporary dance was also spectacularly delivered by Rebound Dance, and Performance Studios.

Literally thousands of Knowsley residents have benefited from experiencing dance opportunities that they would not have otherwise had through the Shimmy Shimmy Shake Shake project, and hundreds performed, many for the first time ever, at this celebration.
