The Trustees are prepared to make core/revenue grants where appropriate but favour projects.

Description

The Trustees recognise the need to assist voluntary organisations which need funds to complement those already received from central government and local authority sources. However, this is not to say that the Trusts make a grant where statutory bodies fail to provide.

Available Funding/Support
Grants vary but are normally for between £5,000 and £10,000. Occasionally, the Trustees make a recurring grant for up to three years.

Match Funding
Eligible Activities
Currently, the major categories under which the Trustees consider support are:
• Science and technology.
• Youth.
• Services and sea.
• Ex-servicemen’s and ex-servicewomen’s hospitals and homes.
• Education.
• Disabled and handicapped.
• Community welfare.
The Minor Categories are:
• Agriculture and horticulture.
• Arts and music.
• Medical care.
• Tarland and Deeside.

The Trustees are prepared to make core/revenue grants where appropriate but favour projects. They recognise that, at present, experiment and innovation are much more difficult to fund and the Trusts' role in funding them is more significant.

Who Can Apply
The Trust's area of benefit is UK-wide but preference is given to organisations in Scotland. Grants are normally made only to recognised Scottish Charities or registered charities outside Scotland.

Deadline
Applications can be made at any time and are considered at biannual Trustee meetings. To be considered for the annual March Trustee meeting, applications must be received before 31 October.

Frequency: Rolling programme.

Useful information
Application forms are available to download from the Trust's website.

All applications are acknowledge and in most cases it will be necessary for an application to undergo scrutiny. This may include a visit from the Administrator.

Organisations which are unsuccessful should wait at least one year from the date of decision before applying again and successful organisations should wait at least two years from receipt of a donation before re-applying.
