Manchester Airport Community Trust Fund
Manchester Airport Community Trust Fund awards grants to local groups to support community, social or environmental projects with a charitable focus. The Trust’s Area of Benefit concentrates on the areas most affected by aircraft operations.
Each year, Manchester Airport donates £150,000 to the Fund. It also donates the money it receives from airlines who exceed the noise limits when flying out of Manchester Airport.
The Trust will fund projects that enhance, protect and conserve the natural and built environment. It will consider applications for projects which:
• encourage tree planting, forestation, landscaping and other works of environmental improvement or heritage conservation; or
• promote or advance social welfare for recreation and sport and leisure, with the object of improving the conditions of life for those living or working in, or visitors to, the area of benefit; or
• provide better appreciation of the natural and urban environment and ways of better serving, protecting and improving the same. This may include education and training; or
• promote the use of the natural environment as a safe habitat for flora and fauna of all kinds; or
• in the opinion of the Trustees are within the Trust’s charitable purposes.
Projects must be for the benefit of the whole community, or a substantial section of it, and not groups of an exclusive nature.
Generally, awards are for up to £5,000 towards your project. Applications for particular items or works are considered that allow your project to increase community benefit. Trustees prefer to offer part funding to complement your own fundraising or grant raising.
Applications are considered from not-for-profit groups or organisations working to improve the environment or social welfare in communities within the Area of Benefit. Your project should offer open access to all and demonstrate wide, lasting benefit to all members of the community regardless of race, gender, age, ability or religion. The items or works you seek funds for should clearly bring community benefit. Trustees prefer to support groups that have volunteer involvement.
