People's Postcode Trust- Small Grants Programme

The People's Postcode Trust aims to make Scotland, England and Wales a better place for both people and nature and acts within the following six fields of operation: poverty prevention; advancement of health; community development; public sports; human rights; and environmental protection.

Grants range from £500 to £10,000 for those in Scotland and England and up to £5,000 for those in Wales.

The following funding levels apply to specific applicants:

Applicants that are not formally registered as a charity with OSCR/Charity Commission can apply for up to £2,000 in funding.
Applicants that are registered with OSCR/Charity Commission and can provide a charity number can apply for up to £10,000 (or £5,000 in Wales) in funding.
The small grants programme is currently open to applications until 24th February 2012. Applications for projects under £2,000 in Scotland can be made at any time.

Eligible applicants are small organisations, registered charities and community groups based in Scotland, England or Wales.

Applicants from England must be based in one of the following regions:
- Yorkshire and the Humber.
- North East England.
- Liverpool and Merseyside.
- The Midlands.

The Trust welcomes individual innovative and entrepreneurial project proposals that bring a direct benefit to the local community in which the group operates. All projects should provide assistance in one or more of the Trust's following fields of operation:
- To prevent poverty
- To promote, maintain, improve and advance health
- To advance citizenship or community development
- To advance public participation in sport
- To promote, improve and advance human rights, conflict resolution or reconciliation
- To promote and advance enivronmental protection or improvement

Examples of eligible project costs could include the following:
- Purchase of sports kit or uniform
- New equipment
- Creation of community gardens
- Applications for building renovations, must have an ecological impact, or demonstrate a wider impact on the organisation (such as enabling new and vital services to take place). Additionally, for those intending to apply for sessional staff salaries, these cannot exceed 15% of the total cost of the amount requested from People's Postcode Trust.
