Sport England has launched a £50million programme to refurbish and improve up to 1000 community sports clubs through The Inspired Facilities Fund (part of the Places People Play legacy programme to bring the magic of a home Olympic and Paralympic Games into communities across the country).

Applications must demonstrate that the proposed project is community led and sustainable.

There will be 5 funding rounds of £10m. Round 1: 1 August to 28 September 2011, Round 2: 1 February 2012 to 2 April 2012, Round 3: 23 July 2012 to 17 September 2012. Rounds four and five will take place in 2013/14 and the dates will be announced after the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Up to 70% of the funding has been set aside for community and voluntary sector projects and up to 30% for Local Authority projects.

Sport England are to make up to 1,000 grants available of between £20,000 -£150,000.

To make applying for a grant as easy as possible, Sport England have developed a “Catalogue” of many of the standard facility improvements clubs would like to make if they had funds available. You will be able to use the catalogue to work out realistic costs, calculate your budget and gather the information you need for your applications form.
