You know it’s Spring when the snow has long disappeared, new shoots are springing up through the ground and everyone comes out of hibernation, waving goodbye to the long, cold winter, what better way to celebrate the arrival of the new season than a spring festival in Stockbridge Village, Knowsley.

On Saturday 24 April, from 11am - 2pm, local food enthusiasts, the ‘Village Farm Cooks’ will be showcasing their skills at Stockbridge Village Spring Market, creating fresh and delicious spring treats for you to enjoy on the day or take away! Bring your family and meet friends to celebrate in the joys of spring with delicious food and games.

The Village Farm Cooks are volunteers participating in creative nutrition training in Stockbridge Village through the Café Society project, which is funded by the National Lottery through Target: Wellbeing. Since January 2009 they have been working alongside cooks, artists and gardeners from arts and health organisation Squash Nutrition, who support them to run temporary cafes and community events like this one.

Target: Wellbeing updated People's Postcode Trust- Small Grants Programme (news) The People's Postcode Trust aims to make Scotland, England and Wales a better place for both people and nature and acts within the following six fields of operation: poverty prevention; advancement of health; community development; public sports; human rights; and environmental protection.

Grants range from £500 to £10,000 for those in Scotland and England and up to £5,000 for those in Wales.
