Volunteering and Health Survey for Greater Manchester
A Greater Manchester Centre for Voluntary Organisations (GMCVO) survey seeks to map the contribution of volunteering to the health, wellbeing and social care of the people of Greater Manchester. By capturing the scope, and volume of volunteering GMCVO aim to gain a representative picture and an indication of the impact on health which volunteering has.
In an attempt to ensure the full range of volunteering is captured, GMCVO have grouped the contribution into 'direct' and 'supporting' roles around health. The 'direct' headings under which volunteering has been classed are taken from the Darzi care pathways which are the main areas of engagement between the voluntary sector and the NHS.
The results from the survey will be used to inform activities for next year's European Year of Volunteering.
