Care School - Move and Food
PROJECT UPDATE JANUARY 2012
- The project is supporting staff development and system change in care homes, and now in domiciliary care, through accessible modules of training, resources, and research. Courses delivered to date include self care and self management; nutrition, running reminiscence and book groups; leading dance ad singing for older people;hearing aid maintenance and dementia awareness.
- Resources include the “Dignity – Crossing the Line”
discussion and training resource, enhanced induction resources, and 4000 “dishes in a dash” recipe booklets and motivational DVDs to advise about healthy meals that can be prepared quickly. Evaluation of the project and resources has been excellent. Improvements have been made in participants’ own settings following the training, which has been commented on by their beneficiaries who have noticed the difference.
- The Care School and Target Wellbeing learning has been shared with the North West Dignity Leads Network, and will be featured at a Skills for Care Conference on 9th February 2012.
