PROJECT UPDATE 2012
- The teams have taken part in a wide range of activities contributing to the development of self-confidence, a range of skills and the enhancement of self-esteem. The project continues to work with a range of agencies, which includes Connexions, Jobcentre Plus, Brook Advisory Service, the Probation Service, Sheltered Accommodation, Bail Hostels, Vulnerable Adults Support Team, Rough Edges Activities Ltd and Oldham Athletic Football Club.
- It is now looking to target local housing authorities to make contact with tenants and is still hoping to liaise with the Army, both to help with recruitment of young people onto the programme and with the delivery of challenging activities to improve self-esteem.
- A work shop with the Manchester Fire Service has been devised and they are working on additional activities based around enrichment sessions. Teams have also completed such activities as:
>A two-week work placement in various organisations.
>Workshops on Completing Application Forms, Compiling an up-to-date CV, Writing Letters for Jobs, Interview Preparation and Mock Interviews. Workshops on Smoking Tobacco and Cannabis, Alcohol & Drugs and Assertive, Passive & Aggressive Behaviour.
> A Presentation to invited parents, family, friends and supporters to relate the impact that the programme had on each individual and to celebrate their success and achievement. Each young person had the chance to gain three QCA Key Skill qualifications in Improving Own Learning and Performance, Problem Solving and Working With Others, a City & Guilds Certificate in Personal Development and Contributing to the Community and certificates in Emergency First Aid, Basic Food Hygiene and Health & Safety.

Structured personal development programme for groups of 16 – 24 year olds. Teams of young people from different backgrounds are brought together to deliver a series of beneficial community projects.
