Growing Food for Life
PROJECT UPDATE JANUARY 2012
- An end of project Celebration Meal and Reflection Workshop was attended by 25 volunteers from the various GFFL projects. A three course meal cooked using crops grown by participants and the evening was a great success.
- Volunteer sessions continue at Deepdale Allotment, Ribblebank Allotment and Grange Community Gardens.
- Children from Acorns School planted onion and garlic while dads and toddlers from Cherry Tree Children’s Centre got stuck in to strawberry planting.
- Two more mini plot holders recently took on full size allotments – a brilliant result!
- Having held 33 healthy eating events in the last quarter the project has now exceeded its target
Works alongside community groups to organise healthy eating and food growing activities that encourage healthy eating, physical exercise, and social and gardening skills.
