PROJECT UPDATE 2012
- The new Year 3 classes at Hodge Clough Junior School began their sessions recently. The 10-week programme was initially discussed with the teachers and included a healthy eating quiz, feel and taste tests, making coleslaw with vegetables harvested from their own plots, sowing winter salad leaves, visiting other growing areas, food miles, sowing broad bean seeds, tidying the green house and garden, and restarting the compost bin! Two trips were organised so that each class could visit a different growing area. Trips were organised to Oasis Academy in Hollinwood and Fernhurst Street Allotments. The classes then fed back details of their trips to each other and compared experiences.
Providing individuals, groups and schools with a series of workshops enabling them to gain skills at growing organic food and cooking and eating healthily using the produce grown.
